The adventure on the Old Maverick Road is now behind you and you have reached the most scenic spot in Big Bend National Park, Santa Elena Canyon. Now you have to choose between the comfortable but also very popular Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and the challenging ( 4WD only ) River Road. At the Castolon Visitor Center we part ways. If the weather is good and you have the appropriate 4WD vehicle, we recommend the drive via River Road to Rio Grande Village.
